Understanding the Power of words

Christianity is not unique in recognizing that there is power the tongue (both for good and ill). In the field of Psychology it is a well documented fact that much of our normal talk to ourselves (self-talk) is remarkably negative and destructive. Our inner monologue can forms healthy or unhealthy outlooks upon ourselves and reality at large.

Creating Affirmations from Scripture

Guidelines:

  • Starting phrases:
    • Identity Words: I AM.. (who God says I am)
    • Abundance Words: I HAVE... (what God says I have)
    • Empowerment Words: I CAN... (do what God says I can do)
  • Use the present tense
  • Be brief and specific
  • State things in the positive form
  • When appropriate use dynamic action words (i.e. words ending with -ing)
